Parrearra Lake Walkway

Calm canal water, moored boats and waterfront parks set the scene on the Parrearra Lake Walkway along Grand Parade on Kawana Island. The path is on lead, and there is a fenced off-lead dog park right beside it.

Leads and the off-lead area

Sunshine Coast Council allows dogs on lead on the foreshore and the shared paths around the water.

Grand Parade Park has a fully fenced off-lead dog park, so the dog can have a run before or after the walk. The council's new dog rules started on 3 July 2026, so check the signs on arrival.

The walk

It is a sealed concrete and asphalt shared path, used by walkers and cyclists. It follows the canal past modern waterfront homes and green recreation parks.

Max: Shared paths mean bikes. Keep the dog on a short lead on your side of the path.

When to go

Early mornings and evenings are coolest on the Sunshine Coast, and the flat, smooth surface suits older dogs. Carry water for the dog on hot days.
