Palmwoods Town Walk

Palmwoods Town Walk loops through the middle of this Sunshine Coast hinterland town on flat, paved footpaths and boardwalk, so it works for almost any dog. Your dog stays on lead the whole way.

The walk

The route runs along the main street, with its retro shopfronts, and past community spaces including Piccabeen Park and the skate park. Concrete paths and boardwalk sections keep it easy on paws and knees.

It links toward Kolora Park, the bushland reserve locals call the duck pond, where a short on-lead track circles the lake through native plantings.

Lead rules

Sunshine Coast Council maps the walk, and its rule for streets and urban public spaces is simple: dogs on a leash unless a park is signed as an off-leash area.

Water and shade

The town square has drinking fountains with built-in dog bowls, and public bins sit throughout the town centre. Kolora Park and the square have shaded seating if your dog needs a breather. Street parking is easy near Kolora Park and along Margaret, Main and Little Main Streets.

Make a day of it

Woombye is next door, and Kimnat Cafe or The Woombye Pub make an easy stop after the loop.

Flat, short and paved, this one suits older dogs, puppies and anyone who wants a gentle town stroll with a coffee on the way.
