Outer Harbor Greenway

The Outer Harbor Greenway is a long walking and cycling route from the Adelaide Railway Station to Port Adelaide and on up the Lefevre Peninsula. The Port Adelaide end makes a good on-lead dog walk, with public art and old rail corridors along the way.

Lead rules

Several councils share the greenway, including the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and the City of Charles Sturt. Keep dogs on a lead on the off-road shared paths and on the suburban footpaths the route joins.

The walk

Off-road sections are wide asphalt or concrete shared paths, and elsewhere the route follows ordinary street footpaths. Expect old rail corridors, bright public art and streets of charming early houses.

Because it links back through Bowden to the city, you can walk a short stretch around the Port or keep going much further.

Make a day of it

Finish in the Port at The Lighthouse Wharf Hotel, or stop at Milledge's Café for coffee.

When to go

Shared paths mean bikes, so it suits dogs that walk calmly on a lead. You set the length yourself, which makes it easy to tailor for an older dog. Bring water for the dog.
