O'Callaghan Park

O'Callaghan Park is a big one for a suburban reserve. Its 31 hectares off Zillmere Road give you room for a proper on-lead loop past sports fields, lawns and the local skate park, all on paved paths.

Lead rules

Brisbane City Council manages the park, and dogs are welcome on lead. The sports fields, playgrounds and skate facility make it a busy place, so keep the lead on along the paths and around the reserve areas.

The walk

The paths are concrete and paved, wide and easy to follow. Mature trees shade the edges of the park, while the middle is open green lawn.

There are water bubblers in the park and bins around the grounds, though it pays to carry your own bags. Car parking is right off Zillmere Road.

Make a day of it

If your dog needs a run after the lead walk, Beams Road Park Dog Off-Leash Area is close by. For a coffee, try Mickey's Cafe.

When to go

Flat, sealed paths make this an easy walk for older dogs and puppies still learning the lead. Aim for the shaded edges on hot days, and expect more people around the fields and skate park when sport is on.
