Mundy Regional Park

Mundy Regional Park covers the Darling Scarp above Lesmurdie and Forrestfield, and its trails around Lesmurdie Falls and Whistlepipe Gully give dogs a real hills bushwalk with city views. Dogs are welcome on a lead, but this is steep, rocky ground, not a suburban loop.

Lead rules

The Parks and Wildlife Service manages the park alongside the City of Kalamunda. Dogs may use the designated areas on a lead at all times, which protects the wildlife and keeps them steady on uneven ground.

The walk

Surfaces run from prepared gravel paths to dirt tracks, uneven rock steps and granite boulders. Streams flow through jarrah woodland in winter and spring, and the lookouts face the Perth skyline.

Routes range from relaxed strolls to steep climbs on the valley and loop circuits, so pick one to match your dog.

Water and shade

There is no drinking water in the park, so carry enough for you and the dog. Shade from jarrah, wandoo and red gum is patchy, and some stretches are exposed and hot in the warmer months.

Max: Granite and rock steps are hard on paws and hips. Take the descents slowly and skip the heat of the day.

Getting started

The main car park is off Falls Road, with bins and picnic tables nearby, and there is more parking near Lewis Road. Both fill quickly on weekend mornings.

When to go

Winter and spring bring running streams and wildflowers. It suits fit, energetic dogs, and Seaton Park in Lesmurdie is there for a gentler day.
