Mortdale Plaza to Oatley Park

This walk starts at Mortdale Plaza on Roberts Avenue and ends in the bushland of Oatley Park, roughly 3.2 kilometres of suburb turning into river views. Dogs are welcome the whole way, but on lead at all times.

Lead rules

Georges River Council manages both ends. Oatley Park is a wildlife protection area with no off-leash zones, so the lead stays on from plaza to river.

Max: Oatley Park is wildlife protection bushland. Keep the lead on and keep your dog on the tracks.

The walk

The street section is concrete footpath through quiet Mortdale streets. Inside Oatley Park, sealed paths around the playground give way to rough, rocky dirt tracks through the bush.

The bush section opens onto views of the Georges River inlets.

Water and shade

Oatley Park has drinking water, but there is little on the street leg, so carry a bottle and bowl. Street trees give some shade early on, and the park's canopy covers most of the bush tracks.

There is parking near the plaza and in several bays inside Oatley Park if you only want the bush section.

Make a day of it

Start with a coffee at f'coffee in Mortdale, or finish at Tidz Across The Park in Oatley.

Good shoes help on the rocky tracks. It suits fit dogs happy with a longer outing.
