Bernie Goodwin Memorial Park on Newcastle Street is Morisset's sports ground and park, with paths looping around the oval and a bright, inclusive playground. It works well for an easy walk with your dog on lead.
The walk
Accessible paths circle the park and its sports fields. It is flat and easy, with scattered mature trees and a small picnic shelter for a bit of shade.
Lead rules
Lake Macquarie City Council moved the old off-leash area from this oval to Gibson Field, so dogs now stay on lead here. Dogs are also banned within 10 metres of the playground.
Max: Older signs and websites may still call this oval off-leash. It is not any more, so keep the lead on.

For off-lead time, head to the Morisset Dog Exercise Area at Gibson Field. Then grab a coffee at Biv's Coffeehouse.
Parking is off Newcastle Street, and the flat paths suit older dogs. Bring water for the dog.
