Bodyfuel cafe Morisset

Bodyfuel Cafe is a casual breakfast and lunch spot in Morisset's business district on Accolade Avenue, open weekday mornings only. Regulars rate the coffee and the fast, friendly service, and the outdoor seating makes it a workable stop with a dog on a weekday loop through Lake Macquarie's west.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, leashed and settled beside the table. This is a small, casual spot rather than a large courtyard, so a calm dog fits best. Ask staff for a water bowl if your dog needs one, it is not automatically set out. Indoor seating is people only.

Worth knowing

The menu leans fresh and wholesome: breakfast rolls and smashed avocado in the morning, then sandwiches, wraps, gourmet burgers and rotating salads through lunch, with dietary adjustments like vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free on request. Smoothies and thickshakes cover the drinker who does not want coffee. Hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 2pm, and the cafe is closed on weekends entirely, so plan a weekday visit or go hungry.

Getting there and parking

Morisset sits just off the M1 between Sydney and Newcastle, and the cafe's industrial-estate location means free parking in the surrounding carpark and on the street right outside, easy for a quick stop with a dog aboard.

Close by with the dogs

Morisset Dog Exercise Area at Gibson Oval on Awaba Street is leash-free at all times outside organised sport, so it is the obvious burn-off before breakfast. Dora Creek Dog Exercise Area is a few minutes south, and the Lake Macquarie foreshore around Bonnells Bay suits a longer on-lead walk afterwards.
