Avondale Dairy Walk

Avondale Dairy Walk is an easy, flat loop alongside Sandy Creek near Avondale University in Cooranbong, a relaxed 2 to 3 kilometre stretch through rainforest and open paddocks.

The walk. Well-defined and mostly gravelled, mixing shaded forest with open farmland. A suspension swing bridge crosses part of the creek, which may need you to carry small or nervous dogs across.

Leash status. Dogs must be kept on lead at all times.

Hazards. Cattle graze in paddocks alongside sections of the trail, so keep dogs well away from the fence lines. The path can get muddy after heavy rain.

Getting there. Access via Freemans Drive then University Road. There is a small, free car park near the trailhead, and the route is a short walk from the nearest bus stop on the main road.

Nearby. Relish Coffeehouse on Freemans Drive is a five-minute drive away for coffee after the walk.

Go early morning or late afternoon for cooler temperatures and the fewest people. Weekday visits are quietest; Saturday mornings bring more local runners.
