Montgomery Park

Montgomery Park, also known as Montgomery Reserve, is a leafy neighbourhood park around Hilda and Lawson Streets in Essendon. Dogs are welcome on a lead at all times, on flat paved paths.

Lead rules

Moonee Valley City Council requires dogs on lead throughout the park. They must also stay at least 15 metres from playgrounds, barbecues and exercise equipment.

The walk

Concrete and asphalt paths loop past a long hillside slide, tennis and basketball courts and the kindergarten boundary. Mature trees shade parts of the route.

The ground is flat and easy, a comfortable lap for older dogs. Bins sit near the picnic and playground areas.

Dog water is limited, and the council suggests carrying a bottle and bowl.

Make a day of it

Finish with a coffee at Coffee Joint on Napier or Take 3 Cafe.

When to go

Free street parking is around Lawson and Tennyson Streets. Give the play areas a wide berth and it is an easy, low-stress lap for a steady on-lead dog.
