Mills Park

Mills Park is Beckenham's big 24-hectare green space, with wide looped paths running past playing fields, rehabilitated wetlands and timber bridges. Smooth, sealed paths all the way round make it an easy on-lead walk.

Leads and the off-lead area

The City of Gosnells asks for dogs on a lead across the main park, including the perimeter loop and the paths beside the playing fields.

For off-lead time, head north into the connected Woodlupine Brook Reserve. Parts of that narrow linear reserve are signed dog off-lead areas.

The walk

The loop is paved asphalt with boardwalk sections over the waterways, so it suits prams and older dogs alike. Expect open turf, a community centre and an on-site cafe as well as wetland birdlife.

Water and shade

Amenities blocks with water sit around the central pavilion and cafe area, and bins line the main paths. Shade comes from sails over the playgrounds, picnic shelters and trees along parts of the path.

Free car parks are spread through the precinct near the community centre, playgrounds and ovals.

When to go

Mornings and evenings are best in summer, when the open fields have less shade. The flat, sealed loop is a good pick for young, old or recovering dogs.
