Mile End Common

Mile End Common is a neighbourhood green on Victoria Street, straddling Mile End and Mile End South, with paved paths, open lawn and a drinking fountain that has a bowl for dogs. It suits a short loop more than a long walk, and the lead can often come off.

Leads and the off-lead area

The City of West Torrens allows dogs off lead in its parks and reserves under effective control, unless organised sport is being played or signs say a lead is required.

Keep dogs out of the playground, which has its own restrictions.

What you will find

Paved and bitumen paths loop past open lawn, a kick-about space, fitness equipment and a half-court for basketball. Trees and shade structures break up the sun.

There are dog bag dispensers, toilets and picnic seating, with both on-street and off-street parking.

Make a day of it

Café De Vili's is close by, and West Torrens Dog Park has fenced enclosures, including one for small dogs.

When to go

Go when no sport is on, since that is when off-lead use is allowed. The flat paths and water on site make it an easy daily stop for older dogs.
