Middle Swan Reserve

Middle Swan Reserve sits on the bank of the Swan River along Middle Swan Road, a grassy picnic ground and paddlers' launch point with river paths for an easy on-lead walk. It is flat and shady, a calm change from the rugged bush trails of the hills.

Lead rules

The City of Swan requires dogs on a lead in its public reserves and foreshores unless signs mark an off-lead area. Plan on keeping the lead on along the whole riverside.

The walk

Partly sealed paths run beside the tree-lined river, past native riverbank plants and open lawns. The layout is flat and wheelchair accessible.

There is a large sealed car park, toilets, barbecues and picnic tables. Bins are near the picnic areas, but bring bags, water and a bowl for the dog.

Stop for coffee at Jane Brook Coffee, or give your dog a run at Swan View Fenced Dog Park.

When to go

Mature trees make summer mornings comfortable, and kayakers setting off give curious dogs something to watch. It suits older dogs and anyone after a slow riverside amble.
