Granville Park

Long paved circuits around open sports fields make Granville Park at 2 Montrose Avenue, Merrylands, a favourite for steady fitness walks. Dogs are allowed, but Cumberland City Council requires them on a lead at all times, as this is not an off-leash area.

The walk

Concrete and asphalt walking and cycling tracks loop past the playing fields, children's play areas and outdoor exercise equipment. It is easy, continuous walking, and you can add laps to suit your dog.

Water and shade

There are bubblers near the sports amenities blocks, but carry a bowl and bottle for the dog. Bins sit along the perimeter paths and near the exits.

Mature trees shade parts of the perimeter, while the open fields get full sun around midday. Street parking and car parks are close by, including near Montrose Avenue.

Pepsi: Pack a collapsible bowl. The bubblers are by the amenities blocks, not always where you want a drink.
