It is a straightforward, no-fuss option if you want your dog off-leash without worrying about traffic or an open boundary, and being inside the park grounds gives it a calmer setting than the street-side yards nearby.

The dog setup

The fenced yard is off-leash, with leads going back on the moment you step outside it into the rest of the park. Cumberland City Council's conditions apply: effective control at all times, even inside the enclosure, waste picked up immediately with fines for non-compliance, and dangerous, menacing or restricted-breed dogs not permitted. Use the double-gated entry properly so nothing slips out while you work the second gate, and stay inside the fence with your dog rather than watching from a bench outside it. Shaded grass, bench seating, a canine water station and bins cover the basics.

Max: control matters more here than the fence does. It is a shared yard with dogs of every size and temperament, so keep an eye on the gate area where new arrivals come in.

Getting there and parking

On-site parking sits just off Glen Street. Granville station is roughly a 10 to 15 minute walk and is served by the T1, T2 and T5 lines, so a train-and-walk visit is realistic. By car it is easiest off Parramatta Road or Church Street via the M4, and public toilets are a short walk away in the broader park complex.

Worth knowing

Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are the best bet for a quiet run; evenings and weekends bring a proper crowd, which suits a social dog but is worth avoiding if yours needs space.
