Bingara Reserve

The bushland off Saywell Road in Macquarie Fields is officially Bingara Reserve, a creekside strip along Redfern Creek. It offers a shaded bush walk in the suburbs, with dogs welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

Campbelltown City Council manages Bingara Reserve. It is not an off-leash area, and the lead helps protect the native wildlife in the reserve.

The walk

Natural unpaved tracks and bush trails follow the creek corridor under a high canopy of Riverflat Eucalypt Forest, so shade is rarely a problem.

The reserve is also home to a Grey-headed flying-fox camp, a reminder that this is a conservation area first.

Getting started

Park on Saywell Road. Built facilities on the tracks are minimal, so carry water and bags.

Max: Flying-foxes roost here. Keep your dog close and on the track near the camp.

For off-lead play afterwards, Milton Park Fenced Dog Park is nearby. Koala Walk Reserve in Ingleburn is another bush walk close by.

The shade and creek make it a good pick for a sniffy summer walk with a calm dog.
