Lockleys Oval

From Lockleys Oval on Rutland Avenue, a popular loop runs down to the River Torrens and around via Keele Bridge. It turns a neighbourhood oval into a riverside walk with ducks and birdlife.

Lead rules

Dogs stay on lead on the public walking tracks and around the ovals. The oval sits in the City of West Torrens.

The walk

Most of the route is paved multi-use path, with some gravel and dirt near the riverbank. Expect calm water and plenty of waterbirds along the Torrens.

A drinking fountain and tap sit near the oval amenities, trees give moderate shade, and street parking is beside the oval.

Make a day of it

Carry on along the River Torrens Linear Park for a longer walk, or finish at coffee by the beans.

Go outside game times, when the oval surrounds are busiest. Early mornings are best for the birds.
