Tedder Reserve Pooch Park Fenced Dog Park

The Pooch Park at Tedder Reserve is a fully fenced dog park in Flinders Park, in Adelaide's west under the City of Charles Sturt, sitting just off Belgrave Avenue near Findon Road on the River Torrens Linear Park. Between the secure fencing, the agility gear and the dual water fountains, it is one of the better-equipped dog parks in the western suburbs, and the linear park at its doorstep stretches the visit well beyond a lap of the enclosure.

The dog setup

Off leash applies inside the fenced area, with a double-gate entry to stop any bolting at the threshold; outside the enclosure the rest of the reserve and the linear park paths are on leash, with a lead of no more than two metres. Keep your dog under effective control even inside the fence, stay at least five metres from the nearby playground, and use the bag dispensers and bins at the gate. What's on site

Inside the fence there is a proper set of agility equipment, including tunnels, ramps, hurdles and weaving poles, plus a sandpit that draws the digging crowd. Dual human and dog water fountains cover hydration, and benches and a gazebo give owners shade. Poo bags are supplied at the gate and public toilets sit just outside the entrance, which is more than most suburban dog parks manage.

Getting there and when to go

On-street parking runs along Belgrave Avenue, with additional off-street parking closer to Findon Road, which also carries the nearby bus routes. Weekends and late weekday afternoons pack the sandpit, so a weekday morning is the calmer choice if your dog needs room to settle.

While you're out there

Pair the session with an on-lead walk along the River Torrens Linear Park, which runs right past the reserve.
