Leo Smith Reserve

Leo Smith Reserve takes in the Ramsgate Beach end of Scarborough Park, near Margate Street and Ramsgate Road. It is a lead-on park, so come for a stroll rather than a run.

Bayside Council manages the reserve. Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead and under effective control the whole time, as it is not an off-leash area.

What the walk is like

Concrete and asphalt footpaths wind across open grass, past children's playgrounds and sports facilities. Remnant native bushland and the trees of Scarborough Park frame the edges, which makes it feel greener than the surrounding streets.

Max: Playgrounds and sports courts mean kids and loose balls. Shorten the lead as you pass them.

For a longer outing, add the Sans Souci Beach Walking Path. The Ramsgate Beach House Kiosk is handy for a snack afterwards.

Who it suits

Dogs who are happy on a lead and owners after an easy, paved circuit. Bring water for the dog.
