Leda Nature Reserve

Leda Nature Reserve is a stretch of native bushland in Leda, next door to Wellard, entered from Runnymede Gate. Dogs can come on a lead, and the reward is a quiet walk through banksias and acacias.

Lead rules

The reserve belongs to the regional parks network run by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, not the City of Kwinana. In these conservation areas dogs must stay on a lead to protect wildlife.

The walk

Tracks are unpaved, a mix of sand, dirt and limestone typical of the local dunes. Native birds are the main show, and the bush smells keep most dogs busy.

The canopy gives some shade, but there are open, sunny stretches too. The reserve connects into the wider corridor around the Kwinana Loop Trail if you want to go further.

Getting started

Parking is informal, on the roadside near Runnymede Gate. There is no dog water on the tracks and few bins, so carry water and take your bags home.

Max: Sandy tracks and open patches heat up fast. Pick the cooler months or an early start, and keep the lead short around wildlife.
