On lead in Royal Park and on riverside paths; no dogs in Riverbend Park's fenced play space or signed no-dog parts of Royal Park (City of Launceston).
Royal Park in Launceston and Riverbend Park in Invermay are joined by a riverside path near the CBD, with wide views over the Tamar and North Esk rivers.
Lead rules
The City of Launceston allows dogs on lead in Royal Park and on the riverside paths. Dogs are not allowed inside Riverbend Park's fenced play space, and parts of Royal Park are also signed as no-dog areas.
Stick to the riverfront path when you pass Riverbend and you will be fine.
The walk
Paved walkways, boardwalks and levee paths make it flat and easy. The route links into the wider network toward the Seaport Boardwalk and the Inveresk Trail, so you can stretch it out.
Royal Park has drinking fountains, bins line the paths, and mature trees and shelters give shade in patches.

Parking is available close to both parks.
Make a day of it
For an off-lead run, try Coronation Park Fenced Dog Park, then coffee at Aroma's Cafe.
Flat and paved, it suits older dogs and anyone after an easy stroll close to the city.
