Lark Hill Nature Trail

Behind the Lark Hill Sportsplex in Port Kennedy, the Lark Hill Nature Trail slips into quiet coastal bushland lined with grass trees thought to be more than 600 years old. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

The City of Rockingham requires dogs on a lead at all times on the trail.

The walk

Flat, compacted earth paths lead onto elevated boardwalks, finishing with a climb to the Homestead at the summit. From the top you look out over the sports complex and the horse training tracks.

Tree cover is partial, with some open sections, and the birdsong is the soundtrack.

Getting started

There is plenty of free parking at the Sportsplex off Warnbro Sound Avenue. Water and bins are around the main sporting facilities rather than out on the trail, so fill the dog's bowl before you set off.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run, St Clair Reserve Fenced Dog Park is nearby, or head to the Warnbro dog beach for sand and surf.

Who it suits

Quiet and easy underfoot, it suits dogs that prefer calm over crowds and owners after a short nature walk. Go in the cooler part of the day, as the canopy thins in places.
