Hallam Valley Trail

Following Hallam Creek through a green corridor of wetlands and parkland, the Hallam Valley Trail links Hallam with Narre Warren and Hampton Park. The path itself is on lead, but some of the council reserves it crosses allow off-lead play.

Lead rules

The City of Casey requires leads on footpaths, tracks and car parks. The same applies within 20 metres of playgrounds, near organised sport and around permanent barbecues.

In designated Casey parks and reserves along the way, dogs may run off lead under effective control unless a sign says otherwise. Read the signs at each reserve before you unclip.

The walk

The trail is wide, flat concrete, easy going for any age of dog. It winds past native wetlands and open parks, including Ray Bastin Reserve.

Water points along the trail are not listed, so bring water for the dog.

For a fenced run, Gunns Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park is close by, or try Fox Road Reserve Dog Off Leash Area in Narre Warren North.

It suits walkers wanting a long, even path, and the flat concrete is kind to older dogs. Avoid the reserves during organised sport, when leads go back on.
