Gunns Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Gunns Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park gives Hallam dogs a fully fenced, grassed run with double safety gates at both ends, set inside a bigger reserve at 23-47 Gunns Road. Around fifteen mature gums shade the enclosure, and a gravel loop path circles the inside for owners who like to keep moving while the dogs play.

The dog setup

Inside the fence there is a sand pit, a tunnel and other simple agility pieces, bench seating, and a water tap with a bowl. Free bags and bins sit at both entrances. It is a single social space with no small-dog section, so it suits dogs that are comfortable meeting new mates; nervous or reactive dogs do better at a quiet hour.

City of Casey rules apply: carry a lead at all times, keep your dog under effective voice control even inside the fence, and clip the lead back on across the wider reserve, near the playground and the picnic areas.

Worth knowing

The park sits in a low basin, so it turns to mud after heavy rain and stays sloppy for a day or two. Weekend mornings and weekday late afternoons after 4pm draw the crowds; mid-morning on a weekday is the quiet pick.

Max: bring a towel in winter and your own water bowl in summer. The tap is there, but a shared bowl is not always out, and a muddy-dog car trip is nobody's favourite.

Getting there and parking

Access is off Gunns Road with on-site parking at the reserve, and both gates are wheelchair accessible. The wider reserve adds a playground with a tower and flying fox, a BMX track and public toilets a short walk from the enclosure.

While you're out there

Grassed areas outside the fence make an easy on-lead warm-up loop, and walking tracks continue towards Frog Hollow Reserve if you want to extend the walk. For a post-park feed, Grill Slice & Chill on Hallam South Road has outdoor seating where a dog on lead is welcome.
