Gunns Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Gunns Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Hallam is a fully fenced, grassy off-leash area with double safety gates at each end, a gravel loop path, and around fifteen gum trees for shade, set inside a bigger reserve with a playground and BMX track next door.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash inside the fenced area, but need to be under effective voice control at all times, even behind the fencing. Clean up after your dog straight away, free bags are provided at the entrances. Because it's a fully social, unzoned space, it suits dogs that are comfortable meeting others rather than nervous or reactive ones.

What's there. A water tap and bowl for hydrating, bench seating in the middle of the park, and bins at both entrances. The wider reserve adds a playground with a tower, slide, climbing wall and flying fox, plus public toilets a short walk away. Both gates are wheelchair accessible.

Getting there. Access is off Gunns Road with on-site parking. Walking trails link the reserve to nearby residential streets and on to Frog Hollow Reserve if you want to extend the walk.

Nearby with the dogs. Grill Slice & Chill on Hallam South Road is a quick option for a post-park feed, with outdoor seating for a dog on lead. For a longer stay, pet-friendly motels sit along the Princes Highway in nearby Dandenong and Narre Warren.

Weekend mornings and weekday late afternoons after 4pm are the busiest windows. Mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday is your best bet for a quieter run.
