Golden Bay Estate Paths

The shared paths through the Golden Bay estate loop past pocket parks and coastal bushland toward the Indian Ocean. The best bit for dogs is at the end, where a stretch of beach is signed for off-leash play.

Leads and the off-lead area

The City of Rockingham requires dogs to be on a lead on streets, parks and shared paths.

The exception is the dog exercise stretch of Golden Bay Beach, which runs about 500 metres south of Crystaluna Drive. There, dogs can be off-leash under effective control.

The walk

Paths are sealed concrete and asphalt, smooth enough for prams and easy dog walking. They weave through new coastal streets, landscaped parks and native bushland reserves, with ocean views from the higher parks near Sunset Hill.

Water and shade

Bubblers are near the bigger parks such as Shipwreck Cove, but they are spread out, so carry water. Young street trees give little shade, though some parks and lookouts have shelters.

Bins sit near park corners, beach paths and the main entries.

Make a day of it

Carry on along the Golden Bay Foreshore Walk, then stop at Bru's House.

When to go

Morning and evening walks catch the sea breeze and avoid the heat on those open streets in summer.
