Goding Park

Goding Park on Sunshine Boulevard gives Mermaid Waters dog owners two things in one stop, a walking loop around open grass and a fenced off-leash exercise area.

Leads and the off-lead area

The City of Gold Coast allows dogs off lead only inside the fenced exercise zone. Everywhere else in the park they stay on lead, and they are not allowed inside the children's playground at all.

The fencing makes it a safe choice for dogs that bolt, and it tends to be a quieter neighbourhood spot for smaller or social dogs.

The walk

A sealed path circles the open grass fields, passing the playground and picnic spots. Poo bags and bins are provided, and there is seating and a picnic shelter.

Water and shade

Shade is moderate while the trees mature, and dog water is not guaranteed, so bring a bottle and bowl.

Max: Midges can bite here at peak times. Pack insect repellent for yourself.

Make a day of it

For a swim, Pizzey Offleash Dog Area is close by, or grab a coffee at Mercado.

Go early or late in summer, when the thin shade matters less. Park on the street off Sunshine Boulevard.
