Fruit Growers Reserve

Fruit Growers Reserve is Somerville's central community park rather than a trail, but its paths make a handy on-lead loop close to the shops. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

Mornington Peninsula Shire applies on-lead rules in general recreation reserves like this one unless signs say otherwise. Keep dogs well clear of the playground and of organised sport when it is running.

The walk

Asphalt and concrete paths run around the grassed parkland, past a junior sports oval, the war memorial, a skate park and a historic machinery museum.

There is drinking water near the pavilion and bins around the playground, picnic and pavilion areas. Perimeter trees and the covered barbecue area give shade, while the oval and open lawns are exposed.

The reserve is at 328 Jones Road, with parking on site and in the surrounding streets.

For off-lead time, Grant Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park is nearby. Miss Moose Cafe is handy for a coffee.

It suits a short daily walk combined with errands in town. Summer afternoons are hot on the open lawns, so go early.
