Ewingsdale Road Shared Path

The Ewingsdale Road Shared Path runs beside the main road into Byron Bay, a smooth sealed link between Ewingsdale and town. It is a practical on-lead walk or jog rather than a bush escape.

Lead rules

Byron Shire Council requires dogs to be on a lead on footpaths and shared paths unless you are inside a signed off-lead area.

Dogs are not allowed at any time on the outdoor sports fields and courts at the Cavanbah Centre beside the path.

The walk

The surface is continuous sealed asphalt with clear sightlines. You pass coastal paperbarks and open grassy stretches, moving from the edge of the Byron Bay Arts and Industry Estate toward the rural hinterland.

Traffic is always close, so it suits dogs that are settled around cars and bikes.

Bring your own

There are few dog facilities along this corridor. Carry water, a bowl and waste bags.

Make a day of it

Walk it into town and reward yourselves at Jimmy's Coffee Byron Bay or Vagabond Byron Bay.

When to go

Go early, before the day warms the asphalt. It suits fit dogs that like a brisk, predictable walk.
