Len Waters Park

Head for Len Waters Park, in Elizabeth Hills beside West Hoxton, rather than the Len Waters Estate itself, which is mostly light industry. It is an on-lead neighbourhood park with paved paths leading to a pond.

Lead rules

Liverpool City Council has not made this an off-leash area, so dogs stay on a lead at all times. Council rules also keep dogs at least 10 metres from playground equipment.

The walk

Paved paths wind through open lawns and tidy landscaping to the pond. It suits a quick daily leg-stretch rather than a long outing.

Bring water for the dog and a couple of bags.

When your dog needs to run, Shale Hills Fenced Dog Park has secure, double-gated off-lead areas, with a separate space for small or timid dogs.

The Shale Hills Loop is there for a longer walk on lead.

Dogs happy on lead and owners after a calm, close-to-home walk. Keep the lead short by the pond if your dog loves water.
