Watiparinga Reserve

Watiparinga Reserve is a quiet valley of restored Grey Box woodland in Eden Hills, on the Belair border. Dogs are welcome on lead at all times.

Lead rules

The National Trust of South Australia owns and manages the reserve, and the lead rule is there to protect the regenerated bushland and its wildlife. There is no off-lead area.

The walk

Tracks are natural earth, dirt bush paths and fire management trails, winding through native grasses and woodland. Birdlife is the main show.

The canopy gives intermittent shade, though some sections are exposed. The reserve links into the wider foothill trail network toward Shepherds Hill Recreation Park if you want a longer, harder walk.

Before you go

There is no reliable drinking water on the internal tracks, so carry enough for you and the dog. Bins are limited or absent, so bring bags and take waste home.

Parking is informal and limited near the entry points.

Max: Keep the lead on even when the tracks feel empty. The whole point of this valley is the wildlife.

It suits a calm, unhurried walk rather than a run. On hot days, go early and carry extra water.
