CC Hood Reserve is a well-equipped suburban park on Booth Avenue in Panorama, with fully fenced dog park areas split into separate sections for large and small dogs, plus off-leash hours across the wider reserve.

The rules: Inside the fenced dog park, dogs can run off-leash at any time. In the unfenced parts of the reserve, off-leash hours run 7am to 9am and 5pm to 8pm from April to October, and 7am to 9am and 6.30pm to 9.30pm from November to March. Outside those windows, dogs must be on a leash. Within 10 metres of the playground and fitness equipment, dogs must be leashed regardless of the time. Pick up after your dog; bins are provided.

What's there: Separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, a paved BBQ area with picnic tables, public toilets open 7am to 7pm daily, a junior pump track, a three-on-three basketball court, and sealed shared-use paths through the reserve.

Getting there: The reserve is on Booth Avenue, reached via Unley Road or Goodwood Road from the city. Street parking runs along Booth Avenue, and local bus routes serve nearby Goodwood Road.

Nearby with the dogs: Hark! Coffee Roasters on Boothby Street is a short walk away for coffee after a run around the fenced dog park.

Check the off-leash time windows before you head to the unfenced part of the reserve. Miss them and it is leash-on, even if the park looks empty.

Weekend mornings and sunny evenings draw the biggest crowds around the BBQ and picnic tables. Early mornings on weekdays are quietest if you want the fenced dog park to yourself.
