The Little Fig

The Little Fig is a cosy, art-and-books-lined cafe at 90B Winston Avenue in Melrose Park, the kind of place where the coffee is reliable, the cakes are homemade and generous, and the front footpath tables come with your dog as a standing invitation. It sits in Adelaide's inner south, an easy stop coming from Edwardstown or Clarence Park.

The dog setup

Dogs go to the undercover seating out front, right on the footpath, with a small shaded patch that earns its keep on hot days. Inside is for humans only, standard for SA cafes. The footpath is shared with passing pedestrians, so keep the lead short at the table. Staff are used to dogs dropping in, but pack your own water bowl since one on the ground is not guaranteed every visit.
