Hannaford Park

Hannaford Park (also called Hannaford Reserve) on Laffers Road in Belair is a fully-fenced, gated off-leash park under a stand of mature trees, a straightforward pick if you want your dog running free without watching the road.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash inside the fenced area but need to stay under effective voice control and in your sight. Once you're back on Laffers Road or the footpaths leading in, leash up again, the fencing and gates cover the park itself, not the surrounding streets.

What's there. Benches and picnic tables are scattered through the park, there's reasonable shade from the established trees, and waste bag dispensers and bins are provided. A water fountain is on site, but a few visitors have found it inconsistent, so bring your own water bowl to be safe. Lighting means early morning or evening visits are workable in the darker months.

Getting there. Free street parking is usually available along Laffers Road, though it's a residential street so expect it to tighten up on weekends. Belair Railway Station is a short walk or drive away if you're coming by train.

Nearby with the dogs. A few dog-friendly cafes sit within a short drive, including options in Belair and Blackwood with outdoor seating, confirm current pet policy directly as opening hours and rules can change.

Weekend mornings and weekday afternoons after 4pm are the busiest windows. For a quieter run, aim for a weekday mid-morning or early afternoon, good for nervous dogs that prefer the park to themselves.
