Cruickshank Park

Cruickshank Park follows the winding course of Stony Creek through Yarraville, a long green corridor of trees and grass with a signed off-lead section. Timing matters, because peak-hour lead rules cover the whole park.

Lead rules

Maribyrnong City Council's off-lead area runs between Austin Crescent West in the north and Francis Street in the south. The adjoining McNish Reserve is on lead.

Every day from 8am to 10am and from 3pm to 5pm, dogs must be on lead throughout the park, including the off-lead section.

The walk

Concrete paths suit prams and older dogs, with gravel and unsealed tracks branching off. Timber bridges and stepping stones cross the creek, and mature trees shade both banks for most of the way.

Drinking fountains with dog bowls sit along the paths, especially near the creek bridges, and bins are placed at regular intervals.

Max: Stony Creek carries stormwater runoff, so keep your dog from drinking or swimming in it. The fountain bowls are the better option.

When to go

Aim for late morning or early afternoon if you want off-lead time, outside the two daily on-lead windows. Street parking is off Court Street and Austin Crescent West.
