Tarralla Creek Trail

Restored wetlands and native plantings line the Tarralla Creek Trail as it winds through Croydon and Heathmont, and the birdlife is the reason to come. Dogs are welcome on lead, with a fenced off-lead park right beside the route.

Leads and the off-lead area

Maroondah City Council requires dogs to be on lead at all times on the shared path. The same applies within 15 metres of playgrounds, picnic areas and organised sport.

For off-lead time, use the Eastfield Fenced Dog Park next to the trail.

The walk

The path is a mix of sealed asphalt and compacted gravel. The council and Melbourne Water have turned the creek back into a natural waterway, so you walk past wetland and indigenous planting rather than a drain.

Bring water for the dog and bags for the walk.

Make a day of it

Let your dog run at Eastfield Fenced Dog Park before or after the walk, then stop at Eastfield Coffee Co for a coffee.

Mornings are best for birdlife on the wetlands. The path suits dogs of any age, and the fenced park next door is handy for dogs that need a run first.
