Pet policy
Dogs on lead in the designated dog areas of Goolawah Regional Park, such as Delicate Beach and Delicate campground (NSW NPWS).
Stretching south from Racecourse Headland to Big Hill near Crescent Head, Goolawah Regional Park is a national parks estate where dogs are welcome. The catch is that they are allowed only in set areas, and on lead.
Where dogs can walk
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service allows dogs in designated parts of the park, such as Delicate Beach and Delicate campground. Keep them on lead in those areas.
The walk
Expect sand and coastal dirt tracks, uncrowded beaches and rocky headlands. Keep an eye on the water, as whales and dolphins often pass.
Coastal scrub shades parts of the access tracks, but the beach is fully exposed. Parking is at Delicate campground and the beach access points off Point Plomer Road.
Pepsi: The campground has bore water and cold showers for a sandy dog, but bring your own drinking water for both of you.
Make a day of it
Head back to town for Swell Nourished Cafe, or add Killick Creek for a second walk. Go early before the sand heats up.
