Coral Cove Foreshore

The Coral Cove foreshore path follows Barolin Esplanade along a rugged volcanic shoreline between Innes Park and Elliott Heads, near Bundaberg. It looks out over Woongarra Marine Park, and dogs are welcome on a lead the whole way.

Lead rules

Bundaberg Regional Council requires dogs to stay on a lead at all times along the foreshore and coastal path. There is no fenced off-lead park in Coral Cove itself.

The walk

The route is a sealed coastal footpath, part of the regional coastal pathway network. It tracks open rocky coastline and low coastal plants, with sea breezes, waves breaking on the volcanic rock and whales offshore in season.

Parking is at the main access points along Barolin Esplanade, where you will also find the bins.

Water and shade

Shade is patchy on this exposed stretch, and dog water points are few. Carry a bowl and water, plus bags for the gaps between bins.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run, Mary Kinross Park Fenced Dog Park in Bargara has agility gear and shaded seating.

When to go

Early mornings and late afternoons beat the sun on this open coast. The quiet, sealed path suits dogs who prefer a relaxed village walk to a busy beach.
