Mary Kinross Park Fenced Dog Park

Mary Kinross Park sits on the southern edge of Bargara along Woongarra Scenic Drive, and its drawcard is a fully fenced off-leash area set inside a wide stretch of coastal parkland beside the tidal Rifle Range Creek estuary. If you want a secure run without worrying about the road, this is the pick at this end of town.

The dog setup

Dogs are off-leash only inside the fenced enclosure, which has secure perimeter fencing. Everywhere else in the park, including the car park and walking paths, they stay on-leash under voice control. Clean up after your dog, with bins provided, and leave aggressive dogs and females in season at home. The wider park adds sheltered picnic tables, barbecues, public toilets and an accessible car park, and the enclosure adjoins the Rifle Range Creek walking paths, so you can add an on-leash loop before or after the run. Shade is patchy, so bring your own water and bowl.

Max: The creek next door is a tidal estuary with crabs and wildlife. Keep your dog leashed on the adjoining paths and inside the fence when you are anywhere near the water.

Getting there and parking

The park is about five minutes by car from central Bargara, with a large on-site car park plus street parking along Shoreline Crescent and Woongarra Scenic Drive. It connects to the Coral Coast pathway network and there is a pedestrian bridge over Rifle Range Creek, so walkers and cyclists reach it easily. Direct public transport to the entrance is limited, so most people drive.

The vibe

Weekday mornings before 8am and late afternoons are busiest with locals; mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday gives you the most space. Even on weekends the park stays calmer than the main beachfront strips further north. It suits dogs that need a proper fenced sprint as well as the estuary-side stroll.

Make a day of it
