This off-leash area sits at the northern end of Bargara around Neilson Park on Fred Courtice Avenue, one of the spots the Bundaberg Regional Council recognises as a dog off-leash area. It is open coastal parkland close to the beach, so dogs can run while you stay near the water.
The rules. Off-leash is allowed only within the designated area, and dogs must be leashed coming in and going out. Keep your dog under effective control so it returns when called, clean up after it (bags and bins are provided), and leash and remove any dog that turns aggressive. Do not let dogs chase wildlife or other park users.
What's there. The council-recognised off-leash space includes waste bins and accessible parking, with some agility equipment and patchy shade. Bring your own water for the dog, as shade and taps are limited.
Getting there. It runs along Fred Courtice Avenue with easy access from the main coastal road and usually plenty of parking. It is within reasonable walking distance of central Bargara accommodation and the caravan parks, so many visitors walk over.
Nearby with the dogs. The Beach Mill under the Life Saving Club sits opposite the park with ocean views, the Garden Mill on Hughes Road welcomes leashed dogs in its garden, and Ricks on the Esplanade has outdoor seating.

When to go. Weekend mornings are busiest, along with late weekday afternoons. For a quieter visit, get there before 9am or head over late in the day. Good for social dogs that like a coastal run.
