Snapper Rocks to Point Danger Walk

From the surf break at Snapper Rocks up to the Point Danger headland, this short sealed stretch of the Gold Coast Oceanway sits right on the Queensland border. Dogs are welcome on lead on the path, but not on the sand below.

Lead rules

The City of Gold Coast allows dogs on a leash along the paved walkway and headland reserve. Dogs are prohibited on the sandy beaches here, including Duranbah and Coolangatta Beach.

The walk

It is smooth and sealed the whole way, with rocky headlands, famous surf and long views down into northern New South Wales. The headland catches a cool sea breeze.

Toilets, bins, picnic tables and barbecues sit at both ends, around Snapper Rocks and the Point Danger reserve. Parts of the footpath are fully exposed, so shade is patchy.

Park near Snapper Rocks or along Tweed Terrace at Point Danger.

Max: The sand is off limits here, even when the surf crowd is heading down. Keep me on the path with a short lead where it meets the beach.

Head back toward Kirra for a coffee at Our Tribe Cafe.

When to go

Early morning or late afternoon, when the path is cooler and quieter. Flat and paved, it suits older dogs well.
