Espresso Cooly

Espresso Cooly is a cottage-style cafe at 5 Dutton Street on the corner of Marine Parade in Coolangatta, a block back from the beach and an easy walk from the sand. It opens daily from around 6am to early afternoon, which makes it a natural first stop before a morning beach walk with the dog.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the front courtyard, a garden area with picnic tables under pine trees, with covered decking seating alongside. The cafe is relaxed about four-legged guests, puppyccinos are a regular request, and dogs stay on a lead in the courtyard.

Bring your own water bowl on hot days and confirm with the counter where your dog can settle, since seating splits between the courtyard and the covered deck.

The vibe

The coffee is Allpress espresso, and the bacon and egg rolls draw consistent praise alongside breakfast burritos and a brunch-leaning menu of quick, healthy plates. It is a morning operation rather than an all-day kitchen, so come early for the full menu.

Getting there

Dutton Street sits just off the Coolangatta beachfront strip, walkable from most of the suburb and from the Kirra end. Free street parking is available in the surrounding streets but tightens up on weekends, so arriving before 8am is easiest.

Make a day of it

Pair the coffee with a walk along the Coolangatta foreshore or the Point Danger Lookout to Currumbin Alley stretch if you want the long version of the morning.

For time off the lead, the Atkin Park Dog Exercise Area at Tugun is a few minutes north, and Cafe Kirra makes a second coffee stop on the sand.
