Concord Foreshore Trail

The Concord Foreshore Trail follows the Parramatta River past mangroves, heritage estates and the rose gardens of the Kokoda Track Walkway. Dogs walk on lead on the trail, with an off-lead area waiting at Majors Bay Reserve.

Lead rules

The City of Canada Bay requires dogs on lead along the shared path, which carries walkers, children and cyclists. The same rule applies where the trail passes through the historic Yaralla Estate.

Majors Bay Reserve has a 24-hour unfenced off-leash area at its northern end, near the Dame Eadith Walker Estate.

The walk

The route links McIlwaine Park in Rhodes with Majors Bay Reserve in Concord West, hugging Brays Bay, Yaralla Bay and Majors Bay. Some sections are sealed, others gravel or dirt.

Shade comes and goes, with open waterfront stretches between mature trees and parkland.

Max: Cyclists share this path. Keep the lead short and give bikes room to pass.

Water and parking

Bins are at the main parks along the route, but dog water is more reliable in council spaces off the trail, so carry some. Free parking is spread along the way, including near Deakin Street.

Make a day of it

Gale St Espresso Bar and Volume One Espresso in Concord are good coffee stops.

Finish at Majors Bay Reserve so your dog gets an off-lead run after the on-lead stretch. The long riverside path suits dogs that enjoy a steady walk.
