Comer Reserve

Comer Reserve, on the corner of Melville Parade and Comer Street in Como, has something few parks offer, a fenced off-lead park just for dogs of 10 kg and under. Bigger dogs can still walk the reserve, on a lead.

Leads and the small-dog park

The City of South Perth opened the enclosed small-dog park in July 2025. Inside it, dogs of 10 kg and under can run off lead with others their size.

Everywhere else in the reserve, dogs must be on a lead. They also need to stay at least 5 metres from the children's playground.

What's there

The reserve is a large open lawn framed by mature shade trees, with concrete footpaths around it. There are toilets, seating, tables, a barbecue and bins, but no confirmed dog water, so bring some.

When to go

This is the pick for small or timid dogs that get overwhelmed at mixed dog parks. Larger dogs are better off with an on-lead lap of the lawn and a longer walk elsewhere.
