Bread Espresso Bar

Bread Espresso Bar sits on the corner of Barker Avenue and Preston Street in Como, a busy neighbourhood cafe that advertises itself openly as dog-friendly and keeps the alfresco tables out front for owners with dogs in tow. It is a natural mid-walk stop on the South Perth side of the river.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor alfresco seating on the corner. The cafe has publicly invited dog owners in on its own socials, so you will not be negotiating the rules at the door; tuck your dog under or beside the table on the busy Preston Street side and bring water on warm days. It opens 6:30am to 5pm every day of the week, which makes it flexible for both early walkers and an afternoon catch-up.

Coffee, pastries and the menu

The espresso program is the backbone, run by experienced baristas, with cold brew for the warmer months. The cabinet leans pastry-heavy: choco donuts and fresh pastries are the usual grabs, alongside a solid all-day brunch list where the hashbrown keeps its cult following. Portions are generous and the pace is quick, which suits a walk-and-coffee routine more than a lingering sit-down.

Getting there and parking

The corner of Barker Avenue and Preston Street is a couple of blocks up from the Canning Highway end of Como, about ten minutes by car from the Perth CBD across the Narrows. Street parking runs through the surrounding blocks and the Kwinana Freeway on-ramps are close by. The South Perth foreshore is a short walk east for a longer riverside leg-stretch.
