Dux Cafe Restaurant

Dux Cafe Restaurant is a long-standing breakfast and brunch cafe in Como, popular with locals for eggs benedict, avocado bruschetta, banana crepes and proper coffee, with chicken scallopini and croquettes carrying the later menu. It is a reliable, unfussy stop, and the outdoor seating is where dogs fit in.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables out the front on a lead; the dining room inside stays people-only. The frontage sits beside a busy stretch of road, so keep your dog on a short lead and settled rather than roaming. Water may be offered if you ask, but bring your own bowl to be safe.

Worth knowing

The cafe's Facebook page lists hours of Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 3pm, closed Mondays, which makes it a weekday-to-weekend breakfast option rather than a seven-day one. Service is quick and the room suits families and catch-ups alike; it has a following for birthdays and celebrations as well as everyday coffee.

Getting there and parking

Dux sits in the Como strip near the Comer Street corner, a short hop from the South Perth foreshore. Listing directories place the shopfront on South Terrace; parking around the Canning Highway end is limited, so the side residential streets, including Comer Street, are the better bet. Secure your dog before crossing near the intersection.

Close by with the dogs
