Coastal Pathway: Bells Creek to Caloundra

The Coastal Pathway begins at Bells Creek and heads north along the Pumicestone Passage towards Caloundra, a paved waterfront walk with Bribie Island across the water. Dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

Sunshine Coast Council requires dogs to be on a leash on the pathway and foreshore reserves. They are not allowed in the dunes or on sports surfaces, and can only come off lead where signs mark an off-leash area.

The walk

The path is continuous concrete, even and easy underfoot, with a few short mangrove boardwalks along the way. From Bells Creek it passes mangroves, calm foreshore and open parks through Golden Beach.

The wider pathway keeps going north to Coolum, so turn back whenever you have done enough.

Water and shade

Bubblers line the Golden Beach Esplanade, some with low dog bowls, and bins are spaced along the way. Carry water for the first stretch from Bells Creek.

Coastal trees shade some sections, while others are open to the sun.

Getting started

Park near the Bells Creek boat ramp at June Street and The Esplanade, or in the Golden Beach foreshore bays. Nearby, Mummy's Cafe and Annalise Circuit Park Fenced Dog Park round out the morning.

Early starts beat the heat and the crowds. It is ideal for older dogs that like a flat, sociable walk.
