Chandlers Hill Reserve

Chandlers Hill Reserve was saved as community parkland after locals fought to keep it, and today it is an easy spot for an on-lead wander with elevated views over the southern suburbs and the semi-rural hills.

The walk

Unsealed earth and grass tracks wind between native trees and open grassy patches. It is a relaxed walk, not a hike, and there is no set loop to follow.

Lead rules

The reserve is managed by the City of Onkaparinga, and dogs need to stay on lead. Dogs are not allowed inside the nearby fenced reservoir reserves, so do not wander that way with the dog.

Max: Kangaroos turn up around these hills. A lead in your hand beats a dog halfway to the next paddock.

Make a day of it

Nearby, Minkarra Park and Thalassa Park add more paths for a longer outing.

Bring water for the dog, as the tracks are open in places. Cooler mornings are best, and the soft ground is kind on older joints.
