Carseldine Bushland

Shade is the reason to come to Carseldine Bushland, a strip of remnant eucalypt forest along Cabbage Tree Creek on the Aspley border. It is a quiet on-lead ramble on dirt tracks, not a formal trail.

Lead rules

Brisbane City Council requires dogs to be on a lead in its bushland reserves to protect local wildlife.

The walk

Expect natural dirt, informal tracks and old service trails rather than paved paths. The creek corridor has a high canopy, native birdlife and a surprisingly peaceful feel for the suburbs.

Informal tracks can be rough in places, so it suits dogs and owners who are steady on their feet.

Before you set out

Water is limited or absent on the tracks, so bring your own. Bins are at the street entries rather than along the tracks.

Parking is on the surrounding residential streets, as there is no dedicated car park.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run afterwards, head to Lacey Road Park Fenced Dog Park or Pat Rafter Park Fenced Dog Park.

The heavy shade makes this a good summer walk. It suits curious dogs that love a sniff and owners after a quiet half hour.
