Carnes Hill Community and Recreation Precinct

Carnes Hill Community and Recreation Precinct links the library, recreation centre, shops and open grass with paved paths. It makes an easy on-lead walk you can fit around errands.

Lead rules

Liverpool City Council requires dogs on a lead across the precinct unless you are in a designated off-leash area. Dogs are not allowed within 10 metres of children's playgrounds or food and barbecue areas, which rules out a few corners of the site.

The walk

The paths are smooth concrete and asphalt and wheelchair accessible, passing a plaza with public art, a water feature, green space and busy sports facilities.

Shade is mostly around the buildings, picnic areas and playgrounds, not along the paths. Parking is plentiful, with bins around the perimeter and water at the public toilets.

Black Elk Espresso is the local coffee stop. For off-lead play, Shale Hills Fenced Dog Park in West Hoxton is a short drive away.

Max: Keep well clear of the playgrounds and barbecue areas. The 10 metre rule applies even with your dog on lead.

Flat and paved, it suits older dogs and short legs, and a walk here fits easily around a trip to the shops.
