Cardigan Village Walking Track

In Cardigan Village Reserve, beside the community centre, a flat, neat walking circuit gives the newer Cardigan estates near Ballarat a handy on-lead loop.

Lead rules

The City of Ballarat requires dogs on a leash at all times here. The reserve is not an off-lead dog park.

The walk

The circuit is concrete and asphalt, passing open grass, the playground, sports courts and the Cardigan Village Community Centre. It is a tidy, family-friendly spot, with barbecues nearby.

Shade is limited to young plantings, and much of the loop is open. There are bins around the community centre, playground and picnic areas, and parking at the centre.

Carry water and a bowl, since dog drinking taps on the circuit are limited.

Make a day of it

For off-lead exercise, head into Ballarat for the Victoria Park dog park. Arch View Cafe in Alfredton is another nearby stop.

This is a quick, flat loop that suits puppies, older dogs and a walk combined with the playground. On windy or hot days the lack of cover is felt, so go in the morning.
